The Brief
We were asked to design and build a modern sunroom for a new-build property in Ulverston. The client wanted a bright, contemporary space that felt like a natural extension of the home, while still complementing the overall architecture of the property. Maximising natural light and creating a clean, seamless finish were key priorities from the outset.
The Build
Roof lanterns are most commonly installed on flat roofs, but in this project we integrated the lantern into a pitched roof design. By continuing the roof angle and installing the lantern seamlessly within it, we were able to create a striking feature that feels both contemporary and refined.
Careful attention was paid to detailing and materials, ensuring the slate roof, glazing, and structure all worked together to achieve a cohesive finish that matched the quality of the new-build home.
The Finished Product
The completed sunroom is a bright, modern living space that blends beautifully with the rest of the property. Natural light floods the interior throughout the day, creating an inviting and versatile area that can be enjoyed year-round.
The combination of the pitched slate roof and roof lantern gives the sunroom a unique character, elevating it beyond a standard extension while maintaining a seamless connection to the home’s architecture. The result is a stylish, contemporary addition that enhances both the look and functionality of the property.
