Back in 2021 we were approached by a customer in Askam who had a tired old conservatory that was an eye sore and leaked. They wanted to transform it into a beautiful sunroom so that they could appreciate the stunning view in comfort, even in the coldest Winters.

The client wanted a space they could enjoy all year round, but they didn’t want a traditional extension that would block the stunning view across the bay. It was important to them that the design felt open and connected to the outdoors. After an initial consultation, we talked through their ideas and needs, and advised that a sunroom would be the perfect solution. It would provide the comfort and usability they were looking for, while still making the most of the beautiful surroundings.

In just five weeks, we transformed the space into the focal point of the home – a sunroom that’s warm in winter, cool in summer, and perfect for everyday living. It’s now a functional, comfortable space the whole family can enjoy, whether it’s for relaxing with a book, entertaining guests, or simply enjoying the view. The transformation has made a real difference to how the space is used, turning it into one of the most loved and lived-in parts of the house.

We wanted the space to feel warm, inviting, and comfortable, so we made a few thoughtful upgrades to bring it to life. One of the first things we did was install underfloor heating – a simple change that keeps the room cozy and evenly heated all year. No more cold feet in winter! We also replaced the old roof with a new slate one. It looks great, suits the style of the building, and improves insulation, helping the space stay warm in winter and cool in summer- both practical and stylish.

To brighten things up, we added a roof lantern. It floods the room with natural light during the day, making it feel bigger, airier, and more connected to the outdoors. Now, whether it’s sunny or overcast, the space feels much more uplifting and pleasant to spend time in.
